Muharrem Dovec was born on November 18, 1953. He was born in the village of Aşağı Alsandık, also called Aşağı Civiya. This village is in the city of Limassol, Cyprus. In 1963, he and his family relocated to the village of Çanakkale (Kandu).
Hüseyin Ethem Bey, a Mujahid Commander, raised his son with discipline. His mother, Hamide Hanım, gave him loving care. His childhood was filled with hard work, honesty, and a strong compassion for others.
His exceptional academic performance became evident early on when teachers promoted him a grade ahead during primary school. His passion for music and sports at a young age reflected his multi-faceted personality. He played different instruments in the band he started, “Kale 5’lisi.” His love for football helped him become the president of the Çanakkale Sports Club.
After completing his military service in 1977, he married his life partner, Küpran Hanım, while still serving in a civil service role. Muharrem Dovec is a father of three. He retired in 1986 and started working in the private sector.
This marked the start of his journey as an entrepreneur. In 1989, he founded Dovec Emlak, a company that rapidly grew under his visionary and integrity-driven leadership, becoming today’s Dovec Group, a pioneering force among construction companies in Cyprus.
To honor his name and values, his family established the Muharrem Dovec Middle School a lasting symbol of his unwavering belief in education and future generations. Today, the school continues to inspire hundreds of students, carrying forward his legacy of learning and hope.

Laid in 2023 and completed through meticulous planning, the school welcomed its first students in the 2025–2026 academic year. More than just a building, this institution symbolizes a forward-thinking educational vision that will shape the future of Northern Cyprus.
